Deep down you know that what you eat has a profound effect on your health. Ayurveda, the sister-science to yoga and the science of longevity, encourages you to eat vegetables that are local and in season. These will give you the best building blocks for your bodies in the environment where you live.

Whether you began a yoga practice for fitness purposes or to help calm the mental chatter, you may have started to notice the effect certain foods have on your mental and physical wellbeing. Maybe you are starting to crave healthier options. Or maybe you are searching to find the best and freshest produce available. You might be looking to expand your knowledge of veggies and explore new options. Or you could be trying to avoid vegetables heavily sprayed with pesticides and herbicides.

If this is you, look no further. Earth Root Farm is working towards a certification in biodynamic, organic agriculture in Connecticut. The farm has some of the best soil in the area. And they have decided to offer our yoga community first dibs in their CSA for 2016.

Community Supported Agriculture is a great way to help your local organic farm thrive. By purchasing a share the farmer gets the capital he needs to buy seeds and start growing and you create a link with the farmer and the food you eat. In return, you also get fresh, locally grown produce every week that your taste buds will love.

Some of the other benefits you will reap are:

  • Freshness: Produce that is harvested close to distribution is not only fresher but has longer keeping power and a better taste.

  • Nutrition: From the moment a vegetable is picked valuable nutrients begin to degrade.  The smaller the window between harvest to plate the higher the nutritional content. Your produce is picked the day of your distribution.

  • Explore new Vegetables: Earth Root Farm is excited to introduce you to unique varieties of vegetables that have luscious smells, tastes, shapes and textures. Eating is one of the most intimate acts that we do. It will be easy to rekindle the love you have with food!

  • Accountability: Rest easy knowing that Earth Room Farm's agri-"culture" is based around your well-being and ecological stewardship. Know you are supporting a small family farm who wants to leave the land better than when they found it as opposed to corporate interest that only care about profits.

  • If this sounds amazing to you, then download the CSA application here.

Liberation Yoga will be distributing the produce on Fridays from 1PM-4PM.
